The Jean Monnet Chair on “International and European Law of the Sea” has been awarded to the University of Genoa (Department of Law) in 2017. Prof. Dr. Lorenzo Schiano di Pepe LL.M. is the Chair holder.

2018 EULoS summer school

Jean Monnet Chair:
“International and European Law of the Sea” (IELoS)

Intended to further knowledge in the field of the interaction between the Law of the Sea and EU Law

The Jean Monnet Chair on “International and European Law of the Sea” (IELoS) has been awarded to the University of Genoa (Department of Law) to carry out teaching and research activities in the domain of the law of the sea both from an international and from a European Union law perspectives.

Prof. Dr. Lorenzo Schiano di Pepe LL.M. is the Chair holder.

The Chair, granted by the European Commission/EACEA in the Summer of 2017, will therefore cover a number of initiatives carried out in academic years 2017/2018, 2018/2019 and 2019/2020, including:

- a general course on European Union law (institutional aspects and four freedoms), delivered in Italian within the law masters’ degree offered by the Department of Law of the University of Genoa;

- a specialised course on International and European Law of the Sea, delivered in English and offered to students enrolled at the Department of Political Science (masters’ degree in International and Cooperation Science) and the Department of Law of the University of Genoa (as an elective subject);

- a summer school on European Union and the Law of the Sea (EULoS).
